ViSTIS

An international consortium comprising Hamburg-based ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems, Catalyst Interactive (a KBR company), and Frankfurt-based 3D game engine developer - Crytek is undertaking the development of a new Virtual Ship Training & Information System (ViSTIS).

ViSTIS®:

Is an advanced training system that allows flexible single and multiplayer scenario based learning in a photorealistic, immersive 3D environment.
Organizes and monitors the full learning process using integrated learning and content management, while motivating and rewarding students with the latest, future-proof serious gaming technology.
Offers knowledge management and intuitive authoring capabilities allowing trainers and students to adapt scenarios and share their experiences.
Reduces the cost and time dedicated to training at the expense of the ship's operational effectiveness and thus increases operational availability and enhanced combat effectiveness.

The German Navy has contracted the ARGE F125 Consortium, with its industrial leader, ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems, to build four F125 frigates and to supply the training system for the vessels. Knowing the customer's training requirements, ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems has determined that a traditional training approach will not meet the Navy's challenging 21st Century requirements and has put forward a 100% synthetic training solution for consideration.
