Mining

Mining is experiencing severe skills shortages. Three strategies to improve that situation are:

  • improving retention rates
  • widening the labour pool (employing more women, young people, skilled migrants)
  • enhancing capability by upskilling of existing workers
With Catalyst's broad approach to workforce readiness (inform, prepare and support components) they can be trained anywhere, and anytime. All they need is access to a computer, a CD-ROM or to the internet.

Specifically:
  • Virtual maintenance trainers can free up costly equipment to make profits not to train recruits.
  • Compliance training can ensure workers know their work regulations and act accordingly.
  • eLearning can also assist with dramatically increasing on-site safety.
  • Job-related eLearning courses can be used to multi-skill existing workers.
There is of course a significant ROI - the cost of training your workforce decreases over time - not increases. A system developed for one remote mine site can be deployed at little extra cost to many mine sites within the company - all linked to central learning management and company HR systems.

Our skill and expertise are used every day by some of Australia's leading resources companies like AGL, BHP-Billiton, Woodside Petroleum, Santos, and Alcoa.
