Gorgon eCollege project

Catalyst recently commenced the development and management of a global eCollege facility for the Gorgon LNG project in WA, to facilitate training across the engineering and construction team dispersed around the globe. The facility will underpin the delivery of world class performance in safety, operational excellence and environmental stewardship.

The Gorgon LNG plant in Western Australia is one of Australia largest E&C projects with investment of $50billion by Chevron and its partners. KBR is part of the Kellogg Joint Venture Gorgon team managing the construction and commissioning of this facility. Besides engineering, environmental and safety challenges of the Barrow Island LNG plant construction, the project team needs to address the logistic challenge of engagement of the owner , KJVG partners and contractors in the common processes and procedures to be followed (One Gorgon) across a global network of project offices, module pre-assembly yards, supply bases and Barrow Island itself.

As a result of an invitation by the KJV Gorgon project team in London, Catalyst Interactive developed a business case for Gorgon eCollege that recommended the establishment of a global project training system, centred on the provision of an online eLearning facility. Chevron accepted this business case and has commissioned the first stage of the eCollege development to define and implement the learning management system and create and deploy some high priority courses to project team members worldwide.

The online eCollege is to operate over the 5 year life of the project and will integrate with an induction centre in Perth for workers mobilizing to Barrow Island.

Gorgon eCollege is an innovative approach to the management and delivery of project related training and induction to project members working together across the globe and will underpin the objective of delivery of world class performance in safety, operational excellence and environmental stewardship.
